Quinta da Fonte
More Photos
With Monte as the crown and Funchal as its multicoloured dress the Quinta da Fonte is an unusual and special accommodation. Some have described it even as a live-in museum or art gallery ? that is, with reference to the vast collection of exquisite furniture, antiques and Indo-Portuguese relics and artefacts of inestimable value. Meticulous care and indulgent attention to detail makes this accommodation more of a mansion than just an old family home.
Breakfast is served on a timelessly stylish and precious table built in 1854, made from a precious rare Madeira wood called ?Pau Santo? or holy wood. It is a round table, with unusual, spectacular proportions and hand carved detail ? especially round the feet. This priceless spread is used to serve the delicious and sumptuous scrambled eggs on toast, the tropical fruit, home made sweets, coffee and home made fruit juices.
Guests stay in one of five bedrooms. Bed sheets, warm blankets, and so on are standard. The rooms all have their own en-suite bathrooms or showers. Soaps and towels are provided as one would expect from a luxury accommodation. The rooms do have their own telephones. Note that the rooms accommodate at most two adults at a time.
A communal veranda and reading room is found on the first floor.
The living room and dining room comprise most of the bottom floor and the leisure room is available for rest and reading outside in the garden.
Why We Love Our Vacation Rental With a massive vista across the harbour city of Funchal the Quinta da Fonte breathes the freshness and nature of Monte - a hilltop outcrop or village on the top most outskirts of Funchal famous for having some of the most beautiful gardens in Madeira.
