The Quinta as it stands today is the main portion of an old and vast estate that was the main homestead of the S?o Gon?alo suburb. It used to be the summer or country residence of an elite family from central Funchal who in turn were themselves descendants of the noble Portuguese settlers and early discoverers of Madeira. In British terms this home could be considered a "heritage" home. It forms part of the history of the island.
The Quinta is set in a large garden estate. A banana grove is located to the rear o the property and the fourth bedroom looks into the banana grove.
