Beauty and Tranquility

Verde Umbria is a beautiful Italian vacation home nestled in the lush green hills of Umbria. This carefully restored villa is the essence of tranquility – it is surrounded by fields of rising green pastures, lazy sheep grazing in the sun, sounds of birds happily chirping, and a soft gentle breeze. The quiet hillsides are etched by mountains, farmers tending to their land, and the occasional sound of a tractor or car in the far off distance. The villa is truly the ideal vacation home for the traveler seeking a peaceful holiday where one can be in contact with nature and the true spirit of the magic region of Umbria. The house is located in a very tiny rural village composed by 10 houses only and strategically located in order to visit the most important places of Umbria. In fact, Spoleto is only 14 kms far, Trevi, Spello, Assisi and Perugia are less than 1 hour by car.The picturesque and medieval Valnerina with its ruins, castles and historical villages is within 10 minutes from the house. Rome is also very close and easy to reach in just 1 hour from the Terni’s rail station that is a good way to avoid the traffic jump into the busy capital.

Home Away from Home

Verde Umbria is a carefully restored vacation home typical of classic Umbrian architecture. Constructed in the 17th century, the villa’s stone walls, rare “pianelle” (tiles), and restored antique furniture provide all of the comforts of a modern home while preserving the beauty of Umbrian artistry. The villa retains its original atmosphere of a country farmhouse with large sized rooms and a large living/dining room with an ancient stone fireplace. This carefully furnished room or “taverna”, with its comfortable hand-carved chairs and table for 12, sofa bed, and collection of Umbrian country antiques and décor, is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine before dinner, or a cup of coffee in the morning.

Best Places to Eat:
A perfect place for food and wine lovers!
The umbrian cuisine reflects the origins of this land : a rural region with its local agricolture, high quality olive oil, lentils, fragrant wine and a choice of many genuine local food. The best pork products in Italy are produced in Umbria from the medieval age, this is the birthplace of the "norcini" wich are the inventors of some pork products like sausages and, salami. Delicious fresh mushrooms and black trouffles make some of the umbrian dishes simply unbelievable, especially the well known "hand made" pasta. Local wines such as the red of Montefalco and the Decugnano dei Barbi will nicely accompany your meal.

The Valnerina's area wich is just 5 kms from the house, is a place to visit. Here you can discover the ancient, medieval and mystical spirit of Umbria with its variety of "sagre", historical or religious events, a choice of festivals during the most part of the year. These events are another way to get in touch and to appreciate the spirit of this unique region. Umbria is also the Italy's spiritual heartland: birthplace of St. Francis, St. Rita and St. Valentine. The ancient past of this region is everywhere: etruscan and roman architecture, medieval towns and villages, churches, castles, ruins...

Vacationer Feedback

"Four of us traveling together had a lovely time at Verde Umbria. The accommodation was even more attractive than its photos and beautifully equipped. Our hostess, Eleanora, was charming and very helpful. We would recommend this excellent house in its tiny village to anyone! We loved Umbria."

A beautiful stone house. We really enjoyed our stay. The village is tiny but very friendly. Despite being furnished with antiques the house was family friendly and was a relaxing place to stay with 3 small children. The owner was very helpful and speaks good English. Lots to see and do in the surrounding area and a garden area with great fews in which to relax.
