Trinidad and Tobago consist of both mountains and plains. This means you can relax on a flat, sandy beach or catch an awe-inspiring view of the Caribbean Ocean from atop a mountain peak – and you can do those both in the same day! And as an added bonus, Trinidad and Tobago are frequently spared from the powerful damages of hurricanes as they pass through the Caribbean Islands.

Trinidad is the island that houses the majority of the population and resort areas. Here you’ll find quaint towns such as Port of Spain, San Fernando, and Chaguanas. You can also visit La Brea Pitch Lake, a popular tourist attraction that is the world’s largest natural reservoir of asphalt. Some visitors like to bathe in the lake because they feel it has healing properties!

Trinidad is also home to the Caroni Bird Sanctuary. This sanctuary, located in the Caroni Swamp, houses many species of our feathered friends. The best time to take a tour of the bird sanctuary is around dusk – this is when the Scarlet Ibis, one of Trinidad and Tobago’s national birds, comes home for the evening.

This doesn’t mean that Tobago is without its charms as well. One of these is Buccoo Reef, a natural coral reef on the northern coast of Tobago. Take a glass bottom boat tour there and the captain may just let you out to bathe in the shallow pool! Or, for a truly unique island experience, go watch one of Tobago’s traditional goat races!

A Trinidad and Tobago vacation rental can be relaxing, if you just want to lie on the beach and listen to the waves, or exciting, if you want to visit during the colorful parades of Carnival. But there’s one thing for sure – a Trinidad and Tobago vacation rental is anything but boring!
