Harbor Springs Vacation Rentals and Lodging
Harbor Springs is located on a smaller bay off of the Little Traverse Bay. This city is both a destination for summer leisure and winter recreation. One of the great landmarks of the Little Traverse Bay is the Little Traverse Lighthouse. The Little Traverse Lighthouse is a historic landmark on the natural harbor. During the summer, residents and visitors have a great view of the lighthouse from Petoskey State Park, located on the north end of Little Traverse Bay. Petoskey State Park offers 300 acres of sandy beaches and two campgrounds, Tannery Creek and Dunes. There are tons of hiking and biking opportunities, and the state park allows its visitors to use metal detectors on the grounds. In the winter, Petoskey State Park is also a great place to head for cross-country skiing . Harbor Springs History Museum is located in a building on Main Street that was formerly the town’s city hall. The museum takes care to pay homage to each distinct group that has settled Harbor Springs, from the Odawa Indians to the present-day resorters. The exhibits feature photograph and artifacts, and there is also research library and genealogy center. To preserve Michigan’s history of the outdoors, the Thorne Swift Nature Preserve was created. The park is located about 5 miles outside of Harbor Springs, and exists so the residents and visitors of the city can enjoy Lake Michigan’s shoreline and cedar swamp. The Thorne Swift Nature Preserve is a great place to truly take in what Harbor Springs has to offer. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
