Bosnia and Herzegovina Vacation Fun Facts
Bosnia and Herzegovina Rentals By Owner
Although Bosnia and Herzegovina has had a very rocky past, the beautiful European country is stabilizing and is quickly becoming a premier vacation rental destination. Located in the western Balkans, the majority of the country is comprised of scenic, towering mountains. Bosnia and Herzegovina also borders the Adriatic Sea, which means that you can go swimming or skiing on your Bosnia and Herzegovina vacation rental! Neum, a fast-growing vacation rental destination, is a resort town located on the coast of the glittering Adriatic Sea. The climate boasts long and temperate summers along with very short, mild winters which make it a perfect destination for your next vacation. In fact, Neum is considered to be one of the sunniest places on earth, receiving a large number of sunny days every year! To get a true sense of the country, be sure and visit some of the historical attractions in the capital town of Sarajevo. The Bosnian Historical Museum features a display on the siege of Sarajevo – but be forewarned that this exhibit is not for the faint of heart. It features graphic pictures of the affected local citizens, as well as heartwreching pictures drawn by Bosnian children. Visegrad is worth a visit simply because of the world-famous bridge on the Drina. This town, made famous by the book by Ivo Andric, Bridge on the Drina, is a recent UNESCO World Heritage List addition and visitors flock from all over the world just to walk across the iconic bridge. The city of Mostar also has a very famous bridge that’s listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Old Bridge (Stari Most) was built way back in 1556 by Ottoman Turks and was ultimately destroyed during the recent war. The Old Bridge was rebuilt in 2004 and it was then that it gained its spot on the UNESCO List. While you’re in Mostar, be sure and take some photos of the Musilbegovica House. Architects around the world deem this treasure to be the most beautiful exhibit of Ottoman architecture. So while it may not be the first place that comes to mind when you’re planning your next vacation rental getaway, Bosnia and Herzegovina has plenty of exciting activities and gorgeous scenery to offer. From the history of Sarajevo to the endless tress of the green city of Banja Luka, you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for in Bosnia and Herzegovina. |
