It’s only been an independent country since 2006, but Montenegro is already established itself as a premier vacation rental destination. This little gem of a country, situated on the Mediterranean Sea is an ideal destination for those who like to spend their vacations with their toes in the sand and their faces in the sun. Start your Montenegro vacation rental in Kotor. This little town is located on Boka Kotorska bay, the deepest fjord in the Mediterranean Sea. This deep water would make for some pretty chilly swimming, but you can always take a stroll around Old Town, the ancient and well-known part of the city. This UNESCO World Heritage site even has an ancient fort that stretches high above the city – only the truly physically fit get to enjoy the view, though, as you have to climb up the walls to reap the visual benefits.

The beaches of Ulcinj are among the best in Montenegro, with the most famous being Velika Plaza (the Big Beach). This beach stretches out for over 7 miles of gorgeous white sands – it’s the longest beach on the Montenegrin coast! Once you’ve gotten your share of sun, be sure and pay a visit to the Castle of Ulcinj in Old Town.

Finally, for a little excitement during your Montenegro vacation rental, take a ride down the Tara River. The Tara River Canyon (or Tara River Gorge) is the longest canyon in Europe and is a popular destination for whitewater rafting. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and there are over 80 caves along the canyon for you to discover. Stretching for almost 20 miles, there are plenty of varying levels of rapids to conquer – for everyone from the beginner to the rafting expert!
