Its natural climate, rocky terrain, and the fact that has about 300 days full of sunshine a year definitely helped Boulder earn this title. Boulder is also only a mere 30 minutes away from great skiing.
 
If you prefer the indoors, there are plenty of museums in Boulder to peruse. There is a Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art which showcases local, national, and international artists. The Boulder History Museum has documents from the 1800s that help to tell the story of Boulder. The University of Colorado Natural History Museum is one of the most extensive and respected natural history collections in the Rocky Mountains.
