Boulder Vacation Rentals and Lodging
Boulder, Colorado has a great geographic location: it’s where the Rocky Mountains meet the Great Plains. One of the defining characteristics of the terrain in Boulder are the Flatirons. The Flatirons are basically built up stone on the outskirts of the mountains that everyone should visit to get a true experience of Boulder geography. Boulder actually got its name from Boulder Creek, the creek that runs through the Rocky Mountains and through the center of the city. Boulder Creek not only adds beauty and charm to Boulder, but, in the summer, adds a large amount of recreation and appeal to the city. People wade, fly fish, and inner tube on the water. The Boulder Creek Festival also takes place over Memorial Day Weekend. It’s the kick-off of summer in Boulder, and includes live entertainment, arts and crafts, and plenty of food from over 500 vendors. And it’s free to the public! Boulder was also recently voted the #1 sports town in the United States, and offers running, cycling, mountain biking, hiking, and rock climbing. Its natural climate, rocky terrain, and the fact that has about 300 days full of sunshine a year definitely helped Boulder earn this title. Boulder is also only a mere 30 minutes away from great skiing. If you prefer the indoors, there are plenty of museums in Boulder to peruse. There is a Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art which showcases local, national, and international artists. The Boulder History Museum has documents from the 1800s that help to tell the story of Boulder. The University of Colorado Natural History Museum is one of the most extensive and respected natural history collections in the Rocky Mountains. Indoors or out, Boulder is sure to impress. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
