Located just 50 miles north of Denver, the Colorado state capital, Fort Collins is a great haven for college students. As home to Colorado State University, students can still get the small, university town feeling while enjoying the great bustle of the city after a short drive.
 
As a university town, Fort Collins, Colorado is home to many well-known microbreweries. The three are the New Belgium Brewing Company, the Odell Brewing Company, and, simply, the Fort Collins Brewery. Anheuser-Busch even has a hub in Fort Collins. Every year, in late June, the city hosts the Colorado Brewer’s Festival to highlight this attraction and the many breweries and pubs located in the area and all over Colorado.
 
Fort Collins also has a great music scene. Every year the Old Town historic shopping district has numerous festivals. One of the music festivals in the late summer is the New West Fest. It has lots of great music, 50 bands on 50 stages to be exact, that range from acts such as Melissa Etheridge to well-known local acts. All for free! There is also tons of local cuisine to enjoy during the New West Fest.
 
For a quieter and more contained music experience, guests can visit the Fort Collins Lincoln Center, the home of the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra and venue to other classical music groups and traveling Broadway plays.
 
Fort Collins also offers a great outdoor life, including the annual Colorado Marathon, hiking trails, abundant wildlife, and scenic views. This one of the reasons Fort Collins has been voted one of the best places to live in past years.
