Long Island in the Bahamas offers a huge range of natural environments for your island vacation rental experience. Long Island is a major draw for divers, for several reasons. First, there is Dean’s Blue Hole – at a depth of more than 600 feet, this is the world’s deepest blue hole, an underwater cave that opens onto the surface of the island. Cave divers from around the world visit Dean’s Blue Hole, either to set cave diving records or just to enjoy a little casual exploring. Long Island also has plenty of ocean reefs offering magical underwater experiences.

Divers also won’t want to miss the nearby Conception Island, a Bahamas National Land and Sea Park, which is an uninhabited ecosystem home to many species of birds and turtles. Conception Island offers some amazing coral reefs, as well as long stretches of untouched beach, and an interior wilderness that perfect for hiking. This is a great day trip destination located close to your Long Island vacation rental.

Cape Santa Maria Beach on Long Island is frequently ranked among the most beautiful in the world, a sight you won’t want to miss. This is also a popular island for deep-sea fishing or bonefishing. Hamilton Cave is full of ancient artwork by the Bahamas’ original inhabitants, the Lucayan Indians.

Other attractions include the Columbus Monument, a tall obelisk on top of the island’s cliffs, commemorating the fact that this was one of the first islands visited by Columbus. Stop at Dunmore Town to look at the fantastic ruins of Dunmore Plantation, and also to shop for locally made arts and crafts. You can also visit many beautiful blue and white churches among the island’s villages.
