The deep waters and reefs around the island make for excellent swimming, snorkeling and sport fishing. The beautiful white beach is just the place to relax in the sun, away from any civilization at all! You can explore the high cliffs of the island, or poke around the ruins of an abandoned settlement on the western side of the island. Scattered throughout the island, you can find pottery shards and other remnants of the Lucayan Indians that once lived here.
 
Samana Cay is also a point of historical interest: a National Geographic study found that this island might have been the first place where Christopher Columbus landed in the New World, though this conclusion remains in dispute. Either way, Samana Cay is a truly untouched island where you can soak up the raw natural beauty of the Caribbean!
