Newark, Delaware is a quiet town located in New Castle County, Delaware. The town was officially established in 1758 by King George II. Newark is located conveniently about 45 miles from Philadelphia and 55 miles from Baltimore, leaving many options for visitors to get to this vacation town.
 
Newark is most popular for being the home of the University of Delaware also known as the  Fightn’ Blu Hens . While you are here, you can enjoy everything the campus has to offer -- including the beautiful botanical gardens, University Gallery, Mechanical Hall (featuring the Paul R. Jones collection of African American Art), or watch one of the their 23 intercollegiate athletic teams compete.
 
After a day visiting the university, grab a bite to eat and relax with a drink at McGynns Pub, The Deer Park Tavern, or Iron Hill Brewery. If you are in the mood for something a little lighter, try out the Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop which is said to be the  Best lunch under 12 bucks  by USA today.
 
If you are in the mood to do some shopping, there are some neat little shops to look at such as Bloom and Grassroots handcrafts. For a longer day of shopping, the Christiana Mall offers all of your favorite retail stores from Ann Taylor to Steve Madden.
