Muskegon Vacation Rentals and Lodging

The warmer-weather months are a great time to visit Muskegon, Michigan. Michigan not only has a very mild, pleasant spring and summer, but, starting in May, Muskegon hosts many lively and interesting festivals.

The Muskegon Film Festival is a smaller film festival held in the city annually, during the month of May. Little-known, independent artists bring their work to the Muskegon Film Festival in hopes of gaining recognition.

Then, in June, a local Catholic Church hosts the Hispanic Fiesta. To celebrate Hispanic heritage, St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church blocks off the street in front of its doors and hosts live music, typically Hispanic foods, and children’s activities for festival goers to enjoy. Admission to the Hispanic Fiesta is free.

In June, Muskegon also hosts the Muskegon Summer Celebration. This festival isn’t so specialized in nature, and it has all different types of food, activities, and music. Big-named musicians usually headline the festival, so the summer celebration usually attracts big crowds and lots of fun.

In later June, the city has the Taste of Muskegon. Local restaurants, bakeries, and more come together and serve their best to the community for just a couple dollars.

Then, in August, the city highlights music again in the Unity Christian Music Festival. This three-day music festival centers on wholesome, family-valued entertainment. Irish music is also highlighted in the area in September in the Michigan Irish Music Festival. Irish music, food, and activities are enjoyed in this festival on the bank of the Muskegon Lake.

Even if you don’t visit Muskegon during the summer for one of these great festivals, the city still has tons to offer. The Frauenthal Theatre brings Broadway musicals to Muskegon from the Fall to the Spring, the Muskegon Museum of Art is thought to be one of the best in the Mid-West, and Muskegon is also the home of the Great Lakes Naval Memorial and Museum.
