The city of Cusco (or Cuzco) is located between the mountains and the jungles of Peru. Once the capital of the Incan Empire, it is now known as the tourism capital of Peru because of the immense architectural remains of the legendary city.
 
Cusco is the adventurer’s paradise. The city has many ruins, caves, and other such attractions to explore. Two of the most popular ruins are the Temple of the Sun called Qoricancha, and Sacsayhuaman, which was constructed with immense rocks that seem impossible to have been moved by hand. Most visitors take a day trip to all the main ruins with one of the many tour agencies that can be found in the city itself.
 
Cusco’s main attraction is located outside of the city. Machu Picchu is a city of ruins that has been a wonder and a favorite to travelers from all over the world. Machu Picchu was recently named one of the Seven Wonders of the world. The city is believed to have been an astronomical observatory.

It was sacred and secret. The buildings of Machu Picchu were made in a way that made them look like part of the mountain. Machu Picchu holds many mysteries.
 
Not everything in Cusco is ancient. The city is also the destination point for many who need a vacation, or simply to relax over the holiday. The streets are lined with hotels, spas, restaurants and clubs. Every business is prepared to serve, and some are even very luxurious. Because of the great competition in the popular tourist destination, the prices that the businesses offer are usually very good ones.
