Stop by the hallowed halls of Yale University in New Haven and walk the same campus that every United States President since 1989 has done. Stop in at the nation’s only official submarine museum, The Submarine Force Museum, which is home to the NAUTILUS (SSN571), the first nuclear-powered sub. See the state’s capitol, Hartford, and go to the Mark Twain house and museum, where Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer were first dreamed into existence. Or stroll through one of the many colonial villages, preserved for both historical and tourism purposes.
 
If history is not your cup of tea, you can travel north to see the many horse farms in northwestern Connecticut. Or go to the Creamery Brook Bison farm in the eastern part of the state and watch wild buffalo get fed. Go boating on Candlewood Lake, located in Brookfield. Or take in the views where the Connecticut River joins the Long Island Sound in the quaint town of Old Saybrook.
 
For a little more hands-on excitement, stop by one of the numerous Native American casinos located throughout the state, hit the Stafford motor speedway, or take the commuter train from New Haven into the hustling, bustling town of New York City for an evening like none other.
