Located in Southeastern Idaho, Pocatello is the fourth largest city in Idaho. A  Gate City  to the Northwest, Pocatello, ID was named as one of the  10 Best Small Cities in America  by Forbes.com and ranked in the Outdoor Life Magazine survey of the 200 Best Towns for Sportsmen. Pocatello is home to several corporate headquarters, the Idaho State University and the Dodge National Finals Rodeo.
 
Unlike most U.S. Rivers, the Portneuf River uniquely flows to the north, passing through the town of Pocatello, connecting with the Snake River just north of Pocatello at the American Falls reservoir. The lush greenbelt that surrounds the Portneuf River provides Pocatello visitors a scenic bicycle/pedestrian path to discover the city. The pathway is a working project of the Portneuf Greenway Foundation that envisions a 13 mile paved trail from Simplot to the Gap so residents and visitors can enjoy the rich Pocatello landscape. Trail maps can be purchased at the Pocatello Chamber of Commerce or the Community Recreation Building for just a dollar.
 
Pocatello is a great year-round vacation destination. In the winter, Pocatello offers several Nordic trails for country skiing and snowmobiling and just outside of Pocatello in Inkom, Id is the Pebble Creek Ski Area for downhill skiing and snowboarding. The Pocatello Parks & Recreation Department operates a number of facilities in the warmer months for vacationers to enjoy including the Fort Hall Replica, the Pocatello Zoo, the Ross Park Skateboard Park, the Ross Park Aquatics Complex and the Pocatello Municipal Golf Courses of Riverside and Highland. Fly into the Pocatello Regional Airport or take the Salt Lake Express for motor coach service between Salt Lake City, Utah and Pocatello.
