Idaho Rentals By Owner
Idaho is nicknamed The Gem State due to its overwhelming abundance of natural attractions, and for good cause! This state has over 3,100 miles of raging rivers – more than any other state in America! And you would probably need a calculator to count the endless scenic lakes found in this gorgeous Pacific Northwest state. In fact, Idaho can boast two sometimes overlooked natural attractions: Hells Canyon is actually the nation’s deepest river gorge – at 7,900 feet, it’s deeper than the Grand Canyon! And Shoshone Falls in Idaho drops 52 feet farther than Niagara Falls!
Although the winters are not quite as cool as one would assume, due to the influence of the Pacific Ocean, there are still many opportunities in Idaho for a vocational rental where you feel like you’re walking in a Winter Wonderland. There is a Winter Festival held every year in McCall, complete with a BBQ, Snow Sculpting Contest, and Longest Beard & Sexiest Leg Competition. Elk City, Idaho is an old mining community with many opportunities to snowmobile, cross-country ski, and catch a glimpse of the city’s namesake, an elk! Or ride the world’s first alpine skiing chairlift in Sun Valley, Idaho.
Christmastime in Coeur d’Alene brings visitors from all over the globe, including recent guests Good Morning, America. This town, located near Silver Mountain Ski Resort and Schweitzer Ski Resort, is home to the world’s biggest and best Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
Although Idaho is the only state that was possibly named as part of a hoax (lobbyist George M. Willing claimed the word was derived from a Shoshone term meaning "gem of the mountains" or "the sun comes from the mountains" but later confessed to making the whole thing up!), Idahoans are very proud of their state full of scenic wonders. In fact, in a twist on the old "You know you’re in Idaho when…" jokes, Idahoans like to finish with "You can see the stars at night."
