Illinois Vacation Rentals
Illinois is a state very proud of its historical heritage. After all, the unofficial state nickname is "Land of Lincoln", due to the fact that Lincoln was in Illinois Senator and spent much of his active life in the Prairie State. One of the most popular tourist sites in the state is actually the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, located in Springfield, Illinois. They also named a zoo in Chicago after Honest Abe – the Lincoln Park Zoo. In fact, Lincoln’s very first public office was as a postmaster in New Salem, Illinois. So Illinois can "honestly" claim they are the birthplace of Lincoln’s famed political career!
With a length of nearly 400 miles, Illinois’ climate is widely varied – but moderate enough to provide ample opportunity for year-round vacation rentals. Summers tend to be hot and sometimes rather humid, while winters are cool and often downright cold!
With the neighboring Lake Michigan water presenting countless fun outdoor activities, both summer and winter-based, Chicago is a perfect vacation rental site. Chicago is currently the 3rd most populous city in the nation and has plenty of attractions and events to keep its many residents and visitors endlessly busy. The Windy City can boast both the oldest aquarium in the nation, as well as Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum – the first in the Western Hemisphere! Chicago has a thriving theater scene, especially improv, and is the home of the famed Second City Improv Troupe. It’s also home to one of the most visited landmarks in the Midwest, Navy Pier. Navy Pier is home to restaurants, museums, retail stores, and a world-renowned Ferris wheel which is often featured in photographs and film about Chicago. And how many other cities can actually brag that they have their own kind of hot dog?!
Not that Chicago is the only vacation rental site in Illinois. Chicago’s capital, Springfield, is home to both the annual Illinois State Fair and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, which is the largest presidential library in the nation. Savanna has recently become haven for "weekenders" from Chicago and even St. Louis, Missouri with its small-town feel, annual Garden Walk, and the Pulford Opera House. And Peoria, Illinois, long since admired for being a microcosm of American life, is home to the world’s biggest 4 mile footrace, the Steamboat Classic.
An Illinois vacation rental can be full of culture, great food, fun outdoor activities, and glimpses into different ways of American Life. From the rural lifestyle of the Amish in the central Illinois prairie, to the hustling, bustling Chicago downtown, Illinois can be a great destination for a vacation renter that wants it all!
