Springfield Rentals By Owner

Springfield, Massachusetts has two nicknames: the City of Homes and the City of Firsts.

It could be called the City of Homes because it was the birthplace of Dr. Seuss. Springfield is the home of the Dr. Seuss Memorial. During the Christmas season, Springfield honors Dr. Seuss in their cultural attraction, Bright Nights. The city’s historic Forest Park is decorated with lights depicting different characters, a lot of them from the works of Dr. Seuss, during Bright Nights.

It could be called the City of Firsts because it was the birthplace of basketball. It is the home of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The new building, placed next door to the historical first Basketball Hall of Fame, is shaped like a basketball that illuminates the Connecticut River at night. The first building with an indoor basketball court is still intact in Springfield as well.

Springfield was also one of the first industrially rich cities in the United States, and its history is preserved in The Quadrangle. Located on the edge of Springfield’s downtown district, The Quadrangle helps to preserve the memory of all of Springfield’s firsts, like Dr. Seuss’ first home with his memorial, the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden and the area’s history in the Connecticut Valley Historical Museum. While in Springfield, it’s also a great idea to check out their well-respected orchestra at City Stage and Symphony Hall, venues that also offer off-Broadway shows and tons of other productions.

There are many colleges in the city that help enhance the nightlife and the city’s entertainment district, Worthington Street.
