One of the biggest draws of Kalamazoo, Michigan is being able to pick up one of their famous t-shirts while you’re there, that reads: Yes, there really is a Kalamazoo. And yes, there is.
 
Kalamazoo sits on the Kalamazoo River, and being close to the water offers tourists tons to do. The University of Western Michigan is located in Kalamazoo, and they have been running the Adventure Center for over 30 years. The Adventure Center is the area’s leading ropes and team building facility. All types of groups, whether they be in college or older, head to the Adventure Center while in Kalamazoo to help strengthen bonds and trust.
 
For indoor enjoyment, and a little slice of history, check out the Hayloft Theatre. The Hayloft Theatre was originally a barn, but in the 1940s was turned into an intimate performance space. During the summer, a popular musical or comedy can usually be enjoyed there.
 
The city is also home to the Kalamazoo Institute of Art , which houses over 3,000 pieces of art, and the Kalamazoo Living History Show, a venue that reenacts events from pre-Revolutionary to Civil War America. Another artsy attraction is the Bach Festival of Kalamazoo. Happening throughout the year, the Bach always showcases different Bach-centered concert series.
 
Another great attraction, for children and those that are young at heart, is the Kalamazoo Air Zoo . The Air Zoo houses old aircrafts that are actually on display to climb inside of. There are over 70 on display, and guests of the Kalamazoo Air Zoo can even take a simulated flight to really experience how the old aircrafts really felt.
 
With its great Michigan location and desire to preserve history, Kalamazoo is definitely worth visiting.
