Kansas Rentals By Owner
Imagine standing in a room of your vacation rental and seeing nothing but wide, open spaces and clear skies. Welcome to your Kansas vacation rental. Kansas doesn’t get this reputation for nothing! This state is almost entirely flat, with the exception of the Eastern 1/3 of the state which is home to rolling hills and forests. What this means for a Kansas vacation rental is plenty of room to stretch your legs and really relax!
For the young at heart, Lawrence is home to the University of Kansas and, therefore, has the requisite college-town atmosphere. Rolling Stone magazine has even called Lawrence one of the "best l’il college towns" back in 2006. As any true college town should, Lawrence is home to constant entertainment, several microbreweries, and even the Wakarusa Music Festival – a four-day festival in early June that continually draws over 60,000 attendants.
While winters in Kansas are admittedly cold, take advantage of the hot summers in Manhattan, Kansas, at the Colbert Hills Golf Course. Golf Digest magazine ranked this course as one of the best in the state. Say hi to the Wildcats at Kansas State University. While you’re in the self-nicknamed "Little Apple", be sure to stop by and view the world’s biggest statue of Johnny Kaw. Johnny Kaw is a Midwestern version of Paul Bunyan – instead of logging, he harvests grain. And he stands very proudly in the center of a large park in downtown Manhattan.
Historically, Kansas has many opportunities for an informative vacation rental. Topeka, for instance, is home to both the Topeka Zoo (where the first golden eagle was born in captivity in the 1970s) and home to the Brown v. Board of Education Historic site (a groundbreaking court trial ending segregation in schools). Wichita, Kansas’ biggest city, is home to the very first Pizza Hut. And Hutchinson has the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Museum, which houses the world-renowned Apollo 13.
But for a vacation rental full of what America’s Heartland is internationally known for, stop by Wolf Creek Park, in Vassar, for over 4,000 acres of recreational opportunities. Fishing, canoeing, camping, and bird watching are all activities easily enjoyed at the large park. Or stand in the middle of Flint Hills for a taste of Kansas’ untouched, wide open prairie skies. Just be sure you don’t leave your vacation rental in Kansas without stopping by Wamego, home to the Wizard of Oz museum. After that trip, you will truly see why Dorothy said, when referring to Kansas, "there’s no place like home."
