Kentucky Rentals By Owner
Kentucky is a scenic state overflowing with Southern charm and hospitality. A vacation rental in this picturesque state is filled with unique bluegrass culture, gorgeous mountains, and Kentuckians very, very proud of their way of life.
This state is considered the "Crappie Capital" of the world and residents are darn proud of it! Fishing is a statewide pastime in Kentucky and many cast their rod in the man-made Cave Run Lake – located in Morehead, Kentucky at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, and with over 8,000 square feet of water, it’s a prime spot for fishermen to try and outdo each other for the best catch of the day.
The only animal held more dearly to Kentucky’s heart than a fish would be, obviously, a horse. Kentucky is world renowned for hosting the annual Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, in Louisville. Thunder Over Louisville, the fireworks celebration during Derby Week can’t be missed! Not to be outdone, Lexington is considered the horse capitol of the world and has numerous horse-related museums and large parks, including the Kentucky Horse Park, American Saddlebred Museum, and the Thoroughbred Center. And Frankfort, Kentucky is home to its own in equestrian circles – in fact, Frankfort will be home to the 2010 World Equestrian Games.
For a state with so many dry counties, Kentucky also has many opportunities for wine and beer enthusiasts! Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort has won countless awards for Best Whiskey and Best Distillery. And once you’ve worked up a thirst at all the horse farms in Lexington, stop by the Lexington Brewing Company or Talon Vineyards for a little sampling of the local fare. Be sure and stop by during September for the Kentucky Bourbon Festival held in Bardstown, Kentucky. Distilleries from around the world show up in the hopes of being inducted into the Bourbon Hall of Fame.
For the outdoor enthusiast, Kentucky is full to the brim with large parks and recreational facilities. Louisville alone has over 122 parks – and that’s within city limits! Murray, Kentucky, is home to Lake Kentucky and Lake Barkley – two man-made scenic lakes connected by a canal and, combined, offer up over 4,000 miles of shoreline for aquatic fun. Or see if you can make it from one end to the other of Mammoth Cave National Park – this internationally known cave in Kentucky is the world’s longest!
So visit Kentucky on your next vacation rental and attend the biggest Beatles festival in the world in Louisville, hit the International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, or try and count all the gold in Fort Knox. Whatever you do, Kentucky will be a favorite vacation rental site for years to come!
