The capital of Missouri, Jefferson City is a beautiful city located right in the heart of Missouri. Jefferson City has a quaint downtown and allows you to enjoy amazing landscapes, lovely wineries, and exciting shopping choices.
 
Start your visit to the state capital by taking a tour of the Capitol Building, which covers nearly 3 acres of the city’s downtown. The Missouri State Museum is also located right inside the Capitol Building, which allows you to get an educational look back on Missouri’s history. You will also get to take in the beauty of all the gorgeous architectural features such as the building’s amazing columns, a grand staircase, and an incredible bronze front doorway. If you are able to see the Capitol Building in the evening, you may be able to capture a fantastic nighttime photo of the 238 foot dome topped by Ceres, a statue of the goddess of vegetation.
 
Jefferson City is located on the western edge of Missouri Rhineland, a wine-producing region, which makes it possible to visit a few local wineries while you are on vacation; a couple of those local wineries being the Native Stone Winery and the Summet Lake Winery. The Summet Lake Winery offers some distinctive Midwest wines and a great menu. On a pretty, warm day sit out on the garden terrace with some friends, and on a chilly afternoon snuggle up next to a romantic fire with your significant other and a fine glass of wine.
 
If you are in the mood for a cold tasty treat, try out Central Dairy which is known by locals and visitors for its legendary ice cream. For lunch or dinner have a taste of some delicious barbeque at Bandana’s Bar-B-Que, or have a fun a relaxing night at The Prison Brew, which offers six home-brewed beers.
