Jersey City is a very popular city in New Jersey, located next to Hoboken, NJ. It’s a city that played an extremely important role in the Underground Railroad and was the start of a new life to thousands of immigrants who traveled here many years ago. Learn about these immigrants and their stories at the Ellis Island Immigration Museum. Take a ferry at the Liberty State Park to get to Ellis Island and learn how millions of immigrants from around the world began their new lives in America.
 
Then visit the famous Statue of Liberty, which is only 2,000 feet from Jersey City. You can see a gorgeous, panoramic view of New York and the New Jersey Harbor from the crown of the Statue of Liberty. Take a tour of Lady Liberty’s pedestal, the museum, and the grounds of Liberty Island. Just be sure to make your reservations for climbing up to her crown.
 
Visit the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway where you can see an unparalleled view of the New York City skyline. This route hugs Jersey City’s eastern edge and goes through several piers and parks.
 
Have fun while learning science at the Liberty Science Center located at Liberty State Park. It features exhibits on various topics such as infectious disease, evolution, skyscrapers, and much more. You can even book an overnight camp-in where you get some virtual experience on extreme weather. The Liberty Science Center also has the largest IMAX Theater in the world.
 
Visit the Colgate Clock, one of the largest clocks in the world, which stands 50 feet tall with the minute hand weighing 2,200 pounds.
 
Have dinner at the Komegashi where you can sample some tasty Japanese food. Or eat dinner with an unbelievable view of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island, along with water on three sides at the Liberty House Restaurant. The Liberty House Restaurant features live music Thursday through Saturday and can always be counted on for great after-dinner cocktails.
