Albuquerque NM is the largest city in New Mexico and straddles the Rio Grande. It is served by two airports, Albuquerque International Sunport being the larger of the two. Albuquerque has a tremendous amount of physical activities due to its outside beauty and abundant recreational parks, making Albuquerque the  #1 fittest city in the U.S. 
 
Go biking or hiking through the Sandia Mountains. Play tennis or golf at the High Desert. If you’re here in the winter months, there is plenty of skiing, snowboarding, or snowshoeing at Sandia Peak. See the sites from above in one of Albuquerque’s hot air balloons. Or if you’re here in October, come to the largest hot air balloon gathering in the world, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Another way to see Albuquerque and the beautiful Sandia Mountain is on a gondola.
 
If you only have a short time in this exciting city, then take an Albuquerque tour. You have several to choose from: see downtown on a segway, go on a trail around the volcanoes while searching for ancient petroglyphs, or take the ghost tour through Old Town Albuquerque. Old Town also has 7 museums, numerous galleries, over 100 shops, and fun Spanish restaurants.
 
If you really want to understand the history of New Mexico and what shaped Albuquerque, then visit the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center or the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Come experience some of the local wineries in Albuquerque which offer tours through tangled vines, illustrate the wine-making process, and host wine tastings – all while teaching you how New Mexico became the oldest wine-making state in the country.
 
Albuquerque is known for its hot and flavorful food, so try a bite at Monica’s El Portal Restaurant, which serves some of the best Mexican food in town. If hot isn’t for you but flavor still is, then go to Vivace where they make authentic cuisines from all regions of Italy and every dish is made from scratch. At night, bar hop around downtown Albuquerque or, in the summer, listen to jazz and have fun at the weekly summerfests held on the green grasses of downtown.
