Farmington, NM is located right in the upper left-hand corner of New Mexico, near the borders of Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. The Four Corners Regional Airport right down the road makes for pretty easy travel to and from this popular vacation rental destination.
 
Start your vacation at The Farmington Museum at Gateway Park which holds different exhibits like the "Dinosaurs to Drill Bits" and "Farmington: 100 Years of Change". Take a scenic walk along the Animas River through wetlands filled with an abundant amount of wildlife. Or experience the lives of the Ancestral Pueblo people who lived there 700 years from A.D. This park has over 4,000 archeological sites with over 600 cliff dwellings you can stand on, look out over the edge, and imagine how different the Pueblo houses are from yours!
 
You can also visit the Aztec Ruins National Monument and explore the West Ruins with over 500 different masonry rooms. As you walk through you will see the original timbers holding up the roof, as well as fingerprints of ancient workers along the stucco walls.
 
Get cooled down at the indoor Farmington Aquatics Center with their Olympic size pool and large water slide. Go fishing at the Jackson and Farmington Lake, or do some off-road recreational riding by the Chokecherry Canyon, which has many off-road trails for hiking, biking, and bicycling. Get a great game of golf in at Farmington’s 18 hole golf course which has been ranked at one of the top ten municipal golf courses in the U.S. Sit under the stars and watch the Sandstone Production’s outdoor theater with performances that run from spring through the summer.
 
But make sure you don’t leave Farmington, New Mexico without hitting the Sunray Casino, only 10 minutes from downtown Farmington. With slot machines, simulcast horse racing, and a sports bar and grill, you’ll leave this vacation with more knowledge of history, in better shape from hiking, and more money in your pockets from all those winnings at the casino!
