For your next vacation rental, travel to Ruidoso New Mexico, a village that lies in the rugged Sierra Blanca mountain range of south central New Mexico. The Sierra Blanca Regional Airport is only 15 miles away. Start off with some fun at the Ruidoso Downs Race Track and Casino. Along with live entertainment and great food, this makes for a fun first day. Enjoy the scenery at the Hondo Iris Farm and Gallery with some of Mexico’s most beautiful gardens. It also has a hummingbird porch, plenty of places for a picnic, and a gallery in a 100 year old adobe building. Watch a Broadway show or musical performance at the Spencer Theater for the Performing Arts. Visit the Dowlin’s Historic Old Mill, the oldest building in Ruidoso, which still has a working flour mill and is powered by a water wheel. See the state’s most respected museum, the Hubbard Museum of the American West, that holds a collection of wagons, carriages, saddles, and Indian artifacts. Get outside and mountain bike through the Sacramento Mountains or go on a recognized top 10 trail on Rim Trail near Cloudcroft. Grab a saddle and a horse and visit Elite Outfitters where they will take you horseback riding through the Rocky Mountains. If you’re here Thanksgiving through Easter, then you must go skiing or snowboarding on some of New Mexico’s best snow. Have a snow play day at Ruidoso’s first class tubing area where you’ll tube through twists, turns, jumps, and bumps. Try out Funtrackers, a fun park with Go Kart Tracks, miniature golf, bumper boats, climbing wall, and game room. While you’re there, you must make sure to go through the Mountain Maze, a 5,200 square foot maze that you and your family will have a blast in. Finally, have a good old western treat at Flying J Ranch with gold panning, a pony ride for the kids, a pistol range, music, and a cowboy dinner complete with tea or lemonade. |
