Made popular by the movie Fargo, Fargo, North Dakota is the most popular destination in the state. Though it’s not the capital city of North Dakota, Fargo is the largest city in the state. Fargo proves its worth as a great vacation destination with its many tourist attractions and numerous things to do.
 
Cultural arts are very well-represented in the area, mainly due to the fact that the city is home to four different universities. Theatre and music productions are aplenty through venues such as the Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre, the Fargo-Moorhead Opera, and the Music Theatre Fargo-Moorhead. Organizations in the area that keep musical productions afloat are the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra and the Jazz Arts Group. The city also has its own ballet, the Fargo Moorhead Ballet. Visual art is well-represented in the Plains Art Museum , which is the biggest in the state and features regional and national art exhibits.
 
If you are more into sports, the Fargodome , as well as hosting cultural events, also hosts tons of sporting events, like an annual Greco-Roman championship, in the area. As the home of the North Dakota State University football team, the Fargodome is a popular destination during the fall.
 
Golfing is also very popular in the area. Fargo has three 18-hole courses and 3 9-hole courses. In the summer, many of the courses offer lessons, and in the winter, they interestingly enough rent out skis for to people to still enjoy the rolling hills of the courses during the colder weather.
 
For a little taste of history, visit the Fargo Air Museum which features aircrafts from World War II.
