One meal you can’t miss while visiting Cincinnati, Ohio is chili. The city is informally known as the chili capital of the world , and has the most chili restaurants within its borders in the entire United States.
 
Its own version of the stew, Cincinnati Chili , is different because of its unique spice mixture—including cinnamon, cumin, allspice, and cayenne pepper among others—and that it is to be served over pasta. A little tip for ordering is that the locals order their chili by number: two-way is served over spaghetti, three-way is also topped with cheddar cheese, four-way, add onions to the mix, and five-way even adds kidney beans. Great chili restaurants to visit are Skyline Chili and Gold Star Chili .
 
Once you’re full off of the popular dish, head to the city’s famous Fountain Square . Located in downtown Cincinnati , Fountain Square is the home of tons of shops and restaurants, and is considered the entertainment center of the city. The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden houses many animals and plants, including the rare white lions used in the shows of Siegfried and Roy.
 
Cincinnati is also home to many festivals throughout the year. The Cincinnati Flower Show is held in late April, while the Taste of Cincinnati —which is sure to serve plenty of chili—and its accompanying jazz festival are held at the end of May.
 
To celebrate its German heritage, Oktoberfest is celebrated to the fullest and thoroughly enjoyed in the nation’s largest Oktoberfest celebration in Cincinnati. Cincinnati is a great place to visit to get your fill of Cincinnati Chili and fun!
