Missouri Rentals By Owner
Missouri is an often overlooked but still great vacation rental site! With its northern plains, southern majestic mountains, and mighty Missouri river running right through the middle of the Midwestern state, Missouri has many opportunities for whatever kind of vacation rental you desire! The Show Me State has over 6,000 caves and caverns alone– second only to Kentucky in sheer numbers of natural caverns!
Kansas City, Missouri’s biggest city, is pretty darn close to being the exact geographical center of the continental United States. Twin city to Kansas City, Kansas, the "City of Fountains" is an urban playground including over 200 fountains and also Swopes Park – a large park that is more than twice the size of Central Park in New York City!
Along with being the state with the most fountains, Missouri can boast a few other manmade treasures. Saint Louis, Missouri is home to the tallest monument in the nation – the US Gateway Arch, measuring in at 630 feet tall. And Springfield has many places listed on the National Register of Historic Places; among them Lindberg’s Tavern, Stone Chapel, the Jefferson Street footbridge, and Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield. In fact, Columbia, Missouri was first settled by mound-building Native Americans. So building impressive sites comes natural to the Midwestern state!
Missourians are very proud of their state history as well – the Mississippi river Tales Mural on the downtown floodwall of Cape Girardeau, Missouri has 24 panels telling about the history of the river and the history of the town. The town was the site of a Civil War battle in 1863 and has lots of civil war memorials around the city. And Jefferson City, Missouri can brag that Lewis and Clark walked through their fine city on their expedition across America.
Home to the first ice cream cone and the first Olympics held in the United States, both in 1904, The Show Me State is full of both historic and modern experiences that make any Missouri vacation rental one-of-a-kind!
