Toledo, Ohio is nicknamed "The Glass City", and ironically, in 1936, the first building to ever be completely covered in glass was built in the city. That building was for the Owens-Illinois Glass Company, and the architectural milestone can still be seen today.
 
Even more interesting architecture can be found on the Old West End . The Old West End is a prominent neighborhood in Toledo that is lined with Victorian and Edwardian style homes and mansions. An Old Queen Anne home, the Mansion View Inn is located on the Old West End, and is frequently visited because of its beautiful Victorian architecture.
 
Toledo is located on the Great Lakes , so many outdoor activities are popular. As a part of what is referred to as the Great Lakes Megalopolis , Toledo centers a lot of its liveliness on its great water view and location. The Toledo Metroparks has many nature trails to hike or bike on, and it is also the home of the Toledo Botanical Garden.
 
The Toledo Botanical Garden is the home of the Susan H. LeCron Shade Garden, an herb garden, and a rose garden. Nearby is the Toledo Zoo whose interesting attractions are a hippoquarium, it’s the only zoo with the Kihansi Spray Toad, and one of two zoos who houses saddle-billed storks.
 
Of the many great restaurants in Toledo, one of the most popular is Tony Packo’s Café . Tony Packo’s Café is well-known because of its collection of autographed hotdog buns. At this Hungarian hotdog joint such celebrities as Burt Reynolds have enjoyed their meal and left their signature behind on a bun.
