Of course are plenty of activities in winter – the state is popular for those wanting to go skiing, ice fishing, and snowmobiling. And you’re not going to find more Christmas tree farms located so close to each other! Jackson, New Hampshire is home to the Jingle Bell Chocolate Tour, a tour through the village streets where local shops and restaurants give out sugary, chocolate treats. Lake Winnipesaukee runs the annual Ice Out Contest where locals try to guess the earliest date the Mount Washington can safely leave her harbor in Center Harbor and set out for neighboring ports. And Lincoln, New Hampshire is home to the Loon Mountain Ski Resort and famous New Hampshire Flume ski run.
 
But a vacation rental in New Hampshire doesn’t have to revolve around snow! The fall foliage peaks in mid-October and brings in thousands of tourists to view its spectacular colors. A popular destination for viewing these colors is in North Conway, New Hampshire. This rock climbing and hiking town offers the Conway Scenic Railroad and a car trail up to the summit for prime leaf viewing. And southern New Hampshire has a unique fall celebration – the Keene Pumpkin Festival. They attempt every year to beat the world record for the most pumpkins lit simultaneously. Keene held the record until 2006 when Boston took over the title – they’re still spending every Halloween trying to win it back. And Berlin, in north New Hampshire, is home to the Northern Forest Heritage Park – a logging museum dedicated to the history of the New Hampshire industry.
 
The New Hampshire spring is prime maple sugar season. The maple farms in this state produce over 90,000 gallons of maple sugar during this season! And Lake Winnipesaukee, the largest lake in the state, has a famous lake fishing derby every May. This historical lake was home to the first intercollegiate competition – a regatta between Harvard and Yale way back in 1852. Lake Winnipesaukee is a premier summer destination as well, and brings in tourists from neighboring states to enjoy the scenery and summer weather.
 
New Hampshire has a lot of history within its borders – the first free public library opened in Dublin, New Hampshire in 1822. And Concord, New Hampshire is home to both the Eagle Hotel, host to many United States Presidents, and the State House, the only state house where legislature still meets in the original chambers. Finally, at St. John’s Church in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, you can visit the oldest pipe organ in the nation. It’s sometimes still played on special occasions.
