Brattleboro, the oldest town in Vermont , is known for its lively arts community. It has even been acknowledged as being in the top ten art towns with a population of under 30,000. The streets of the city are lined with art museums and galleries, and on the first Friday of every month, the city holds Gallery Walk.
 
In the evening, the art vendors open their doors to participants, and show off new work and have art-centric performances. Among the participating galleries are the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center , the Windham Art Gallery, and the In-Sight Photography Project. The In-Sight Photography Project is a local gallery that holds classes and teaches children and adolescents about photography. There is a student gallery on the premises that showcases their work.
 
For music lovers, there are many festivals throughout the year in Brattleboro. In May, the city hosts the Brattleboro Free Folk Festival , and in June, Brattleboro Fest, another music festival that celebrate underground music, culture, and the city’s mild summer weather.
 
For your theatrical fix, catch a showing of the Vermont Theatre Company’s Shakespeare in the Park in June and July. Brattleboro then celebrates the artistic genre of film in July. The Brattleboro Animation Festival is always held on the first Friday in July and highlights the animation niche of the film industry. The Women’s Film Festival is held in March in Brattleboro, and helps to benefit various women’s charities in the area.
 
As the city even holds a literary festival every year in the fall, Brattleboro covers every artistic base, and is definitely a prime vacation spot for art lovers .
