Middlebury, Vermont is known as the home of the Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History . The museum has been in existence since the 19th century, and offers interesting tours through their many exhibits. The exhibits of the museum are meant to highlight the great state of Vermont and its heritage. A lot of the objects on display are everyday objects from prominent families during the 18th and 19th centuries. The Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History is also the home of important documents and artifacts of state history.
 
Middlebury is also home to Middlebury College . The beautiful architecture on the campus, which has the Green Mountains as a backdrop, is worth visiting while in the city. The Emma Willard House, a National Historic Landmark , is a main attraction on the campus, as Emma Willard was a pioneer of women’s education in the country.
 
The Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference is held at Middlebury College annually. Held at the Bread Loaf Inn, the Bread Loaf Writer’ Conference started as one of Robert Frost’s idea and is now a 10 day workshop with craft classes, poetry and prose readings, and agent meetings. It is a great event for aspiring writers to attend.
 
The Middlebury College Rugby Team and their games are popular in the area. They’ve won a national championship, and compete with big-named schools in the country like the University of Wisconsin.
 
As a city close to both the Green Mountains and Adirondack Mountains , Middlebury is a great city to visit for a laid-back educational and hiking visit.
