Vancouver Rentals By Owner

Located on the Columbia River, Vancouver, Washington , is just as pretty as the city its namesake, Vancouver, British Columbia. With great views of the nearby Cascade Mountains , any time spent outdoors in the city is treasured. So, of course, outdoor recreation thrives in the area.

Hiking along any of the four close mountains, including Mount Saint Helens is popular, along with biking and rock climbing. Fishing and hunting are also popular in the lakes and forests of Washington.

For a history lesson, visit Fort Vancouver , a popular archeological site that has large collections of Spode ceramics, United States Army relics, and close to 200,000 more notable artifacts that have been excavated. Fort Vancouver also puts on many shows throughout the year, from low-scale historic weapons firings to parades and other historic demonstrations , like how to plow, and also hosts many traveling artifact shows. The most popular show at Fort Vancouver is the annual fireworks display on the Fourth of July.

Vancouver is great to visit in at the end of the summer for its two popular festivals. In late August the city hosts the Vancouver Wine and Jazz Festival. With such great subject matters, the festival has become very popular in the Northwest. It is known for its smooth music, fine art, delicious cuisine, and local wine. In September, the city then hosts the Vancouver Sausage Fest . The three-day festival is also one of the biggest in the area—maybe because it’s only one dollar to attend—and showcases local entertainment, arts and crafts, and, of course, sausage, along with other foods.

And if Vancouver isn’t lively enough for you, you can easily cross the bridge that spans the Columbia River and head straight into the booming city of Portland, Oregon .
