Known as the " Friendly City ," Fairmont is definitely a charming vacation destination. With weather that never really gets above 80 degrees and below 40 degrees, the city is great to visit year-round, so Fairmont keeps its visitors entertained throughout the year.
 
Visiting the beautiful state parks is a great place to start in Fairmont. The mountainous countryside is displayed well in both the Pricketts Fort State Park and the Valley Falls State Park. Both parks are also great for hiking and having picnics, and the Pricketts Fort State Park is also home to the original fort which serves as a stage for 18th century reenactments and other performances.
 
One of the best ways to see the entire city is from the High Level Bridge that was recently erected in Fairmont. The arch bridge leads straight into the city center where all of the city’s great shopping, dining, and historic sites await. Because of the milder weather year round, Fairmont newly renovated Volcano Island Indoor Water Park to be enjoyed year-round. In July, one of the biggest draws of the city takes place: the Johnnie Johnson Blues and Jazz Festival . Along with traveling jazz acts, the city honors its own jazz musician, Johnnie Johnson. For an entire weekend, the city hosts tons of musical acts, arts and crafts vendors, and has a plethora of food and drinks to enjoy as a festival attendee. As the "Friendly City," Fairmont is sure to never disappoint!
