Located in the western tip of the state, Huntington is one of West Virginia’s largest and most exciting cities. Because of its size, at most any time of the year, Huntington is hosting an exciting festival worth visiting.
 
The festival year starts in March with the St. Patrick’s Day Celebration. Following the Irish traditions that are adopted in most cities annually on March 17, the city celebrates with music, food, and spirits.
 
In April is the Huntington Dogwood Arts and Crafts Festival. Honoring the tree for which it’s named, the city comes together which some of the best crafts around. With June comes three separate festivals: the Jazz-MU-Tazz, the Old Central City Days, and the West Virginia Day Celebration. Of these three, the most exciting is definitely Jazz-MU-Tazz. For a full weekend, the city entertains this summer jazz festival by welcoming jazz ensembles, outdoor concerts, and tons of food and fun. On the last Saturday in July, an American tradition is honored in the West Virginia Hot Dog Festival. Any local, regional, or national style of hot dog can for sure be found at this festival.
 
The best time to bring children to visit Huntington is in August for Ritter Park Days. Ritter Park Days are filled with hands-on activities and programs geared towards children. September is a great time for food-lovers to visit Huntington. Both the St. George Greek Festival and the Chilifest take place during the month. The St. George Greek Festival features Greek food, music, and dancing. The Chilifest is the state championship that crowns the best pot of chili in West Virginia for the year.
 
November is a historic month in the city, and the month brings the Guyandotte Civil War Days. Meant to educate the attendees, the festival also has tons of entertainment, food, and arts and crafts. The festival year ends with Lions Tri-State Arts and Crafts Festival. The biggest arts and crafts festival for three states, the Lions Tri-State Arts and Crafts festival entertains over 200 vendors who always bring plenty of sweets and other food to be enjoyed.
