Wheeling, West Virginia becomes a festive and cultural town during the summer months. One of the first places to visit in Wheeling is Capitol Music Hall. It has been opened since the late 1920s and has hosted some pretty big names in its time, from Johnny and June Carter-Cash to Merle Haggard to Tammy Wynette. Now, as the biggest theatre in the state of West Virginia, Capitol Music Hall continues to host big name music acts. Throughout the year, Capitol Music Hall is the home to the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra. Other theatres in the city include Victoria Theatre, a small Victorian style theatre that is the home to the country radio program, "The Wheeling Jamboree," and also the Wheeling Heritage Port, where tons of festivals are held in the summer.
 
At the end of May, the Wheeling Heritage Port hosts the Wheeling Blues Festival. Honoring the music genre, there is live entertainment, food, and spirits. In June, the port hosts the Wheeling Feeling Chili Cook Off. The competition has many different chili categories, like red chili and chili verde, and all proceeds of the event go to charity. In September is the Sternwell Festival, a great gathering of music, food, and fun. Also in the summer, the city hosts Riverfront Movie Night. Every Friday Night at the Heritage Port Amphitheatre the city shows a free family-friendly movie. The event has become very popular in the city! When visiting Wheeling to enjoy the entertaining and mild summers, definitely check out this leisurely event.
