Though it is technically in the great state of Wisconsin, Kenosha is actually considered a suburb of Chicago. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, Kenosha provides both a taste of the rural and the urban setting.
 
In the city limits, enjoy Harborpark. Overlooking the Kenosha harbor, the park is home to the marina and tons of open space in the downtown area used for picnicking, jogging, biking, and just enjoying the views of the city and Lake Michigan. Harborpark is also the home of Kenosha’s public museum. This Kenosha Public Museum, along with the city’s Civil War Museum and Dinosaur Discovery Museum, is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution.
 
Since it is less than an hour’s drive from Chicago, while visiting Kenosha, it is easy to enjoy the many tourist opportunities the big city has to offer. The popular museums include the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Chicago History Museum, the Chicago Children’s Museum, and the Museum of Science and Industry.
 
If visiting from March to November, be sure to keep your Friday night free for the Ravinia Festival. The outdoor venue entertains its guest with a different musical entertainer weekly, ranging from jazz to classical to contemporary, while they picnic on the lawn.
 
It’s always an exciting experience to catch a basketball, football, or baseball game of any of the professional sports teams in the windy city, whether it be the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs or the Chicago White Sox.
