Milwaukee, Wisconsin rests on the shores of Lake Michigan. The popular lake brings sailors, windsurfers, and many festivals to the city.
 
Riversplash is the official summer kickoff in Milwaukee. For three days the city enjoys water recreation, food, entertainment, and fireworks to ring in the season. The Lakefront Festival of the Arts, sponsored by the Milwaukee Art Museum, is held in June of every year and features local art lakeside. Summerfest, which refers to itself as the world’s largest music festival, features over 700 bands on 11 days in June and July. Honored by the Smithsonian as one of the best cultural festivals around, Milwaukee’s Irish Fest includes Irish food, dance, and cultural history during the month of August.
 
For snow-lovers, Milwaukee sees more than the surrounding cities because of Lake Michigan. While in the city visit Red Arrow Park, off of the popular Water Street, to enjoy ice-skating. Slice of Ice, a rink that can accommodate up to 100 skaters and has a heated observation deck, runs from December to February. If you bring your own skates, you skate for free, or you can rent skates on the premises. Throughout the year, visit one of the other popular parks in Milwaukee to enjoy cross-country skiing, hiking, biking, and bird watching.
 
Water recreation in the parks include visiting the family water parks and beaches of Milwaukee, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and ice fishing.
 
As the home to the Miller Brewing Company, breweries and pubs are a great tourist draw in Milwaukee. Hence the name of the local National League baseball team, the Milwaukee Brewers. Their home field, Miller Park, is definitely worth visiting to see the Milwaukee Brewers in action.
 
Popular museums in the city include Haggerty Museum of Art, the William F. Eisner Museum of Advertising and Design, and Discovery World, the city’s largest and most entertaining science museum. Cultural entertainment includes the Milwaukee Ballet, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Florentine Opera, and First Stage Children’s Theatre. For all types, Milwaukee is sure to entertain.
