Built near the historical site of Fort Caspar, Casper keeps its history alive in the great tourist attraction, the Fort Caspar Museum and Historic Site. Located on the North Platte River, the Fort Caspar Museum and Historic Site is a great place to learn about Casper. With replicas of log cabins and the original ferry, the site stays true to the history of the city and of Wyoming. The museum site, while preserving its history, also houses many traveling exhibits, ranging from collections of maps to art. Guided tours and youth camps are also provided at the Fort Caspar Museum and Historic Site.
 
Other museums in the area include the Nicolaysen Art Museum and Discovery Center, which specializes in education, exhibitions, and acquisitions; the Tate Geological Museum, which specializes in fossils and minerals on the campus on Casper College; and the Werner Wildlife Museum, which is thought to be one of the best attractions in Casper because of its stuffed collection of the wildlife in Wyoming. Kids especially love to visit the Werner Wildlife Museum.
 
To move away from the history of the city and into the culture of it, visit one of the three theatre venues Casper has to offer. Choose from the Gertrude Krampert Theatre, where Casper College holds its performances, the Stage III Community Theatre to check out a local production, or the Casper Events Center, where bigger named companies, like traveling Broadway shows, perform in the area. Casper is home to the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, and for a rare treat in the music world, be sure to check out the city’s Troopers. The Casper Troopers are a drum and bugle corps that put on shows filled with songs with American and Western themes. A trip to Casper is definitely not complete without seeing this dynamic bunch!
