Although Belize may not necessarily be the first place you think of for a vacation rental, it’s a fast growing vacation rental destination due to the neighboring warm ocean waters and fabulous temperate climate. In fact, you can take a Belize vacation rental pretty much year-round because the weather is generally always warm and welcoming.
 
And there are plenty of exciting things to see and do during a Belize vacation. One of the most impressive is the Great Blue Hole. This is an underwater sinkhole right off the coast of Belize that began as a limestone cave. Jacques Cousteau himself declared it to be one of the top scuba diving destinations in the world! Perhaps this is in part due to the crystal clear waters and the tropical fish and sharks that you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of!
 
Speaking of some of the Belize natives, a trip to the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary is definitely a must do! This nature reserve is in southern Belize and was originally established to protect the local flora and fauna. The Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary was, in fact, the first sanctuary founded specifically for the jaguar and is considered to be one of the top jaguar preservations in the world.
 
The Belize Barrier Reef, the longest in the Western Hemisphere, offers up some stunning underwater views for you on your Belize vacation. The Belize Barrier Reef is Belize’s top tourist destination and is home to many species of coral and tropical fish. In fact, comparatively little of the Belize Barrier Reef has been fully researched and its estimated that only around 10% of the existing species have been discovered as of yet! Maybe you’ll discover a brand new type of fish on your Belize vacation!
 
Or, for a little dose of Belize history, there are plenty of Mayan ruins to see. The Altun Ha and the Caracol are pretty impressive – but for a true glimpse of ancient Mayan culture, pay a visit to Lamanai. These ruins are only accessible by a 26 mile boat ride and haven’t even been fully excavated yet! When you’re checking out these authentic ruins, the isolation will soon make you forget what century you even live in! But, after looking around and taking in the gorgeous weather, sunny beaches, and exciting culture, you won’t even care!
