St. Maarten and St. Martin Rentals By Owner
Although it’s technically owned by two separate countries, Sint Maarten/Saint Martin is known as "The Friendly Island" because of the easy relations between the two halves of the scenic island. The northern region is Saint Martin, the French territory, while the south half is known as Sint Maarten and is considered part of the Netherlands Antilles. But travelers to the fantastic island nations will only experience a peaceful vacation rental site and can easily travel back and forth between the two sides of the scenic island.
And travel back and forth they should! There are over 30 famous beaches dispersed around the scenic island and many opportunities to go surfing, scuba diving, coastal fishing, and horseback riding. And for those who enjoy a little retail therapy, you’ll be in heaven with the duty free shopping all across the fantastic island!
The Dutch side of the island is known as being a little bit more active and his home to all of the scenic island’s many casinos. Sint Maartin also hosts a very active nightlife and Maho Beach – a beach so near to the airport that jet planes seem to be roaring just a few feet over your head!
The French side of Saint Martin is slightly more refined and elegant…but far from stuffy! In fact, this side of the island is home to many nude beaches among its beach bluffs, peaceful harbors, and cozy coves. In fact, there are a few more natural wonders on this half of the scenic island, including Pic Paradis, the highest point on the island. Saint Martin also has a colorful butterfly farm and Fort Louis, the site of very few ruins but a fantastic island view.
With an average year-round temperature of 80⁰F, Sint Maarten/Saint Martin is a great vacation rental site for all lovers of sun and water sports. Some of the best surfing is found at The Galleon, The Bowl, or Guana Bay. For those who like to take a walk on the wild side, come and go surfing during hurricane season when the swells are at their highest. And for those who like windsurfing, the Trade Winds offer up the best time of year for that.
Or, finally, if you just want to celebrate and party with the locals, both sides of the island hold their own Carnival celebrations – in February for the French side and in May for the Dutch side. During both festivals the streets are crowded with revelers dressed in gorgeous, colorful costumes.
So, whether they’re spelling it "Sint" or "Saint" and whether they’re speaking French or Dutch, the island natives on Sint Maarten/Saint Martin will welcome you and show you the island vacation rental experience of a lifetime.
