Mt Baker - Glacier Rentals By Owner

For the true small town experience, visit Glacier, Washington . Not even considered a city, the community boasts a population of around 100. With only a few businesses and a ranger station, the city offers the true get-away-from-society-for-a-while experience.

The other perk of Glacier is that it is located right at the base of Mount Baker . Mount Baker, a part of the Cascade Range , is an active volcano covered in ice and snow—a combination that makes the scenery of Glacier worth the visit.

There are several spots of Mount Baker that shouldn’t be overlooked while in the area. The most prominent summits are Sherman Peak and the Black Buttes , a pair of peaks called Colfax Peak and Lincoln Peak. Mount Baker’s many distinctive qualities, like its Mazama Ash and Sherman Crater , are what make it worth visiting.

The scenic Mount Baker Highway leads straight to the peak and gives a great tour of the northern Cascades in the process. The Mount Baker Highway is rich in scenery and in history. Rolling farmlands from the Gold Rush era are still present throughout the drive, along with the abundant wildlife.

The Mount Baker Blues Festival is an annual music festival held with the beautiful backdrop of the mountain in nearby Bellingham. Held at local pubs and breweries, the festival offers live music and an overall good time. The city of Bellingham is also a great place to visit while staying in Glacier for a small taste of city life during a small town vacation.
