Sometimes called "the Fun Coast" of Florida, this region is full of beaches, golf courses, parks, space ships, NASCAR and more. Daytona Beach is the principal city in this vast region. Though widely known for its rowdy history as a Spring Break destination, there is much more to Daytona than college students and parties. In fact, thanks to the rising popularity of other beaches like Panama City Beach along Florida's Panhandle, Daytona is shaking the Spring Break image in favor of a more family friendly and diverse year-round destination.
 
In addition the LPGA headquarters, Daytona is home to the headquarters of NASCAR and the Grand American Road Racing Association, appropriate for a beach city known for hard sand that allows cars to drive along its beaches. Daytona is also home to the Daytona International Speedway, featuring the Daytona 500 each February and playing host to more than 200,000 race fans. The NASCAR Coke Zero 400 is held here each July and two bike events are held annually - Daytona Bike Week in March and Biketoberfest in October.
 
Not far from Daytona Beach is the port city of Cape Canaveral. Home to Kennedy Space Center, vacationers on a Florida getaway in this region can often witness a space shuttle launch on nearby Merritt Island. Cape Canaveral tours are also available, offering visitors a first-hand look at the grounds and many of the operations of the Kennedy Space Center.
