To enjoy the beach, head to nearby Fort Myers Beach, known as the one of the safest beaches in the state. The sugar-like sand and warm sun of Florida are hard to pass up.
 
Other than the beaches, Florida is a popular vacation spot because of the Everglades. Daily tours of the impressive and unique ecosystem leave daily from nearby Naples and also from nearby Marco Island. Visiting the Everglades is a great way to learn about the history of the state.
 
The history of Cape Coral itself rests at the Cape Coral Historical Museum. The Cape Coral Historical Museum has a rose garden, state history exhibits including antiques and artifacts, fossils on display, and the Lois Herbert Memorial.
