Located on the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico, Sanibel Island does a fantastic job of obliterating the stress of everyday life and allowing its visitors to enjoy their beach vacation rental. Sanibel Island is part of the chain of cities on the Southwest coast of Florida referred to as Paradise Coast. Paradise Coast offers some of the safest and most beautiful beaches on Florida.

Beach recreation on Sanibel Island includes exploring the Gulf of Mexico by renting a boat, jet ski, or waverunner; chartering a captain for an offshore fishing excursion, to maybe track down some Mahi Mahi or a giant sailfish; and kayaking or wind-surfing through the waves.

Back on land is Sanibel's most popular beach past-time though. The island is known as the shelling capital of the world. Sanibel offers prime shell-searching (maybe while doing a little soul-searching too) with tons of varieties of shells and with the backdrop of an orange Florida sunset. Adjacent to the beaches are lush trees and foliage, and bicycle paths running all over the island help visitors to truly enjoy the nature of the small community.

Jazz music is possibly one of the only things that could make Sanibel even more enjoyable, so head to the Big Arts Center while on the island to check out live entertainment, varying from music to dance to theatre.

After taking in a show, have a meal of fresh seafood at one of the many restaurants on the island. If you decide to venture off the island, be sure to take a tour of the nearby Everglades. As one of Florida’s biggest tourist attractions, the Everglades should not be missed while on a relaxing beach vacation on Sanibel Island.
