Soldotna Rentals By Owner

Located on the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska, Soldotna is a great place to visit for wildlife viewing. The Kenai Peninsula Wildlife Viewing Trail, which starts in the nearby city of Seward, is great for whale-watching. The most frequently seen whale is the Beluga. Other animals that frequent the Kenai Peninsula Wildlife Viewing Trail are otters, moose, Bald eagles, and Dall sheep.

The area is also known for the rare breed of Kodiak bears. Kodiak bears are a branch of the brown bear, but bigger as they are about the size of polar bears.

Salmon fishing is a popular past-time and sport in Soldotna. King, Sockeye, and Silver salmon are commonly found in the waters of around Soldotna, as are halibut, trout, and Dolly Varden. Most fishing is done on the Kenai River, but there are also fishing opportunities in the nearby Cook Inlet. Along the water is also a great place for sight-seeing and hiking. There are also opportunities for cross-country skiing in the area.

Soldotna has more river city parks than any other city in Alaska, so the opportunities for these activities are abundant. For eight months out of the year, the Soldotna Sports Center is also open and houses an Olympic-sized hockey rink for ice skating and playing hockey.

The best time to visit Soldotna, Alaska is during the summer months, when the population almost doubles in the city, and there’s tons of entertainment and the city is alive with people.
