Kenai Vacation Rentals and Lodging

Kenai is referred to as Alaska’s playground. Located on the Kenai, Peninsula—from which it got its name—Kenai, Alaska is known for its abundant and unique wildlife and scenery. Whale-watching is a favorite past-time in the area. Most frequently seen are Beluga whales in the nearby Kenai Peninsula Wildlife Viewing Trail. Other animals that populate the Kenai Peninsula Wildlife Viewing Trail and amaze visitors with their beauty and abundance are otters, moose, Bald eagles, Kodiak bears, and Dall sheep.

The area is great for hiking and sight-seeing. The summer months, with their cool, Alaskan weather also make the state ideal for outdoor activities. On the water, the most popular activities are canoeing, kayaking, rafting, and taking glacier cruises to see the natural wonders. While on land, other outdoor activities include dog sledding, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and camping.

A great way to tour the Kenai is to go flight seeing. Flight seeing is just like sight-seeing except it is done from the inside of a float plane, so those who partake get a birds-eye view of the city and get to have the thrill of landing on water.

Fishing is also a popular sport and past-time in the area. On both the Russian and Kenai rivers, red salmon are a popular catch. There are tons of fishing guides, tour operators, and boat rentals to employ for a great fishing experience in the area.

Complete with glaciers, cold wind, and tons of things to do outdoors, Kenai is sure to chill and thrill during your visit.
