Wyoming Rentals By Owner
Wyoming, part of the original Wild, Wild West, is still a great vacation rental site for those wanting a unique and authentic vacation rental experience with a little western flavor. Being the least populated state in America, you know you won’t spend your Wyoming vacation rental waiting in long lines; instead, you’ll get a front-row seat for all of the fun things there are to do in The Equality State.
Without even delving into the exciting cities and manmade attractions found in Wyoming, nature alone has provided the state with many opportunities for things to do. Wyoming has access to both the Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Parks and also is home to Devil’s Tower, America’s first National Monument from back in 1906. In the Great Divide Basin, water cannot flow anywhere and is forced to either sink or evaporate. And Wyoming is full of raging rivers such as Yellowstone River, Snake River, Wind River, and Big Horn River.
Even in the most metropolitan of Wyoming’s cities, you’ll still be guaranteed plenty of elbow room. Cheyenne is the most populous city in the state and only boasts a population of 53,000. Those 53,000 sure know how to show a visitor a good time though – they throw Cheyenne Frontier Days every summer, complete with an outdoor rodeo, a carnival midway, and real gunslingers. The town is also home to over 50 places on the National Register of Historic Places. And neighboring Terry Bison Ranch currently houses over 2,000 buffalo.
Jackson, Wyoming is home to Jackson Hole Ski Resort and the National Elk Refuge. It’s also home to the world’s largest ball of barbed wire – something that doesn’t always appear in the vacation brochures!
Sheridan, Wyoming was voted the #1 Top Western town in 2006 by True West Magazine and then made the top 10 again in 2007. For a little dose of literary history, stop by the Sheridan Hotel – famed author Ernest Hemingway stayed here while writing A Farewell to Arms. The nearby Bighorn Mountains provide many opportunities for hiking, fishing, and backpacking.
Finally, Cody, Wyoming, named for Buffalo Bill Cody, is near the east entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Every summer, the Irma Hotel in downtown Cody hosts live reenactments of Wild West Shootouts. The Irma Hotel is a historical landmark that is actually still running and open for business.
So if you want to live like a cowboy for a week, learn how to rope a calf, or just relax and do some trout fishing in Laramie, your Wyoming vacation rental is waiting for you.
